Who is responsible?

Noltepointer AB publishes Lumlo and is responsible for personal information it handles in connection with Lumlo. Parents and caregivers can contact us using the email below. This policy covers the Lumlo app and this website.

Information saved in the app

A child’s profile contains the name or nickname and age you enter, a profile identifier, theme, mascot, outfit, owned wardrobe items and star balance. Learning records include completed activities, answer results, practice duration, dates, progress and achievements. Your own word and vocabulary sets include the text and language pairs you save.

The parent area saves the parent name, a hash of the parent PIN, power-up choices, time goals and encouragement messages. The app saves preferences such as language, sound and voice choices. These records support profiles, learning activities, rewards, progress history and parent controls. You can use a nickname instead of a full name.

Storage and iCloud

Lumlo saves these records in app storage on the device. Where iCloud key-value storage is available, the app also sends profiles (including parent settings and the hashed PIN), learning records, word sets and vocabulary to Apple’s iCloud service for the Apple Account signed in on the device. Some device preferences, such as the currently selected child and voice choice, remain local.

We do not operate a Lumlo server that receives these learning records. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy policy. Device backups may also contain app data, depending on your Apple settings.

Camera scans and selected photos

Camera access is requested when you choose to scan a vocabulary sheet. You can instead select a photo with Apple’s photo picker or enter words manually. The app uses Apple’s Vision framework to recognise text on the device. Lumlo does not upload scan images to an OCR or AI service.

Scan images are held temporarily for import and review. Saved vocabulary sets contain the words, translations and language choices, rather than the source images. The original photo, if selected from your library, stays under your control in Photos. You can change camera permission in Apple’s Settings app.

Free access and subscriptions

The app records the original start date of the complimentary 72-hour access period and a last-observed device time. The start date is stored locally, in Keychain and through the existing iCloud sync. It is shared across child profiles; the last-observed time stays on the device. These records help keep the access window consistent and are retained when a child profile is deleted. Keychain data may remain after the app is uninstalled.

Apple processes subscription payments. Lumlo uses Apple-signed StoreKit transactions to check access, renewals and revocations and to restore purchases. We do not receive your payment-card details or send purchase records to a Lumlo server. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings.

Voice, advertising and tracking

Lumlo reads prompts using audio bundled with the app or Apple’s speech synthesis voices. It does not record your child’s voice or request microphone access. The app does not include advertising, third-party analytics or cross-app tracking code. We do not sell children’s profile or learning information.

Keeping and deleting information

App records remain saved so your family can return to its progress. You can edit a profile and delete your own word lists and vocabulary sets in the app. To remove a child, open Settings, choose the controls beside that child, then choose Remove and confirm. The app deletes that child’s profile, progress and saved words locally and sends the deletion to iCloud. Other connected devices apply the deletion when they sync.

A record of the deleted profile identifier is retained to help prevent an older device from restoring the removed profile. Removing a child does not remove the shared parent settings. Uninstalling the app does not necessarily delete data already in iCloud or device backups; those are also governed by Apple’s account and backup settings.

If you contact support

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your question and investigate the issue. Please send only information needed to help, and avoid children’s personal details. We retain support correspondence as needed to handle the request and any related legal obligations. You can ask us about access or deletion using the contact below.

Visiting this website

The pages do not add advertising trackers, analytics scripts, forms or third-party fonts, and do not store cookies or browser preferences in their own code. Our hosting providers may process technical request information, such as an IP address and requested page, to deliver and protect the website. This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare’s privacy policy explains its handling of technical request information. An App Store link, when available, takes you to Apple’s service.

Your choices and rights

Parents can edit and remove children’s app records as described above, manage iCloud and device permissions in Apple’s Settings app, and contact us about information they have sent to us. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information, object to certain processing, or complain to a data protection authority. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the date above.
